Data We Collect

  • Chat Interactions: Text messages, inputs, and any information you provide during your chat interactions with the AI.
  • Personalization Data: We collect usage statistics (such as the number of dialogues, dialogue lengths, and key details mentioned during chats—for example, if you share your name—to personalize future interactions). This information is stored associated with an anonymous userID.
  • TTS Data: When converting text to speech, only the text to be synthesized is sent to the TTS APIs (OpenAI TTS, Speechify API, and Elevenlabs API). No data linking this text to you is transmitted.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • Voice Data: We do not collect, analyze, or store your voice data. However, when transcription is required, your audio input is sent to the Whisper API for transcription purposes. By using the “Talking Buddy AI” application, you are deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions of the Whisper API.
  • Images and Media: There is no image upload functionality in our application.
  • IP Address and Device Information: We collect and store IP addresses and device-related information only when necessary to comply with legal obligations or address violations of our application rules (such as security threats, inappropriate AI usage, or suspected criminal behavior like child exploitation). This information is processed under the legal basis of legitimate interest, compliance with legal obligations, and user safety requirements.
  • We do not otherwise actively monitor or process this data unless a lawful or security-triggered reason arises.
  • Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies in our application.
3. Legal Grounds and Purposes for Processing Personal Data

Your personal data is processed based on your explicit consent, the performance of a contract, and our legitimate interests (provided these do not override your fundamental rights). The purposes include:

  • Providing and operating the “Talking Buddy AI” application.
  • Processing your chat inputs to generate AI responses and personalize future interactions.

To deliver our services, we share your data with the following third-party providers:

  • OpenAI API: Your chat inputs are transmitted to OpenAI’s servers (in the United States) for generating AI responses.
  • TTS APIs: We use OpenAI TTS, Speechify API, and Elevenlabs API for text-to-speech conversion. Only the text for synthesis is sent, without any data that links it to you. By using the application, you are deemed to have accepted the terms of these third-party services.
  • Firebase (Google Cloud Services): We use Firebase for backend infrastructure, data storage, and analytics. Data stored includes personalization details linked to your anonymous userID. Firebase may also independently collect device-related information.
5. Data Retention Periods
  • Personalization Data: Usage statistics and personalized information (e.g., your name if provided) are stored on Firebase servers for as long as necessary to provide our services or until you request deletion.
  • Chat Inputs: Complete chat dialogues are not stored on our servers. Instead, only the necessary information is extracted and retained for personalizing future interactions, while full conversation details are sent to the AI API for response generation and not archived.
  • IP addresses and device information: Retained only for as long as necessary to investigate, report, or comply with security incidents or legal obligations, after which it is securely deleted.
6. Data Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include:

  • Secure Communication: All data transmitted between the application and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard protocols.
  • Access Controls: Access to personal data is limited to authorized personnel only.
  • Secure Storage: Data is stored on secure servers provided by Firebase, which comply with industry security standards.
  • Regular Monitoring: We continuously review and enhance our security practices.

  • Premium Subscription: Premium users receive a daily quota of 100 voice chats and unlimited text messaging, provided under a fair use policy to ensure that unlimited usage does not negatively impact the service performance for other users. Apart from the voice chat limit, there is no difference in data processing between premium and standard users.
  • 3D Character and Voice Customization: We reserve the right to change 3D characters and their voices at any time without prior notice.
